What Are the Mentis Way and the Mentis Process?

The Mentis Way defines how we serve. The Mentis Process defines how we manage IT.

The Mentis Way is the culture and set of values behind every Mentis Group relationship. The Mentis Process is our structured operating framework for managing technology—turning those values into consistent, measurable business outcomes.

Simply put: The Mentis Way is who we are. The Mentis Process is how we work.

Together, they shape how Mentis approaches managed IT: proactively, strategically and with clear accountability for the health, security and continuous improvement of our clients' technology environments.

What Is the Mentis Way?

The Mentis Way is built around a simple mission: deliver exceptional service and technical business solutions that empower our clients to focus on their core business.

Four core values guide how our team works:

  • Accountable. We take ownership of our work and honor commitments to ourselves, the Mentis team and our clients.
  • Passionate. We take pride in our vision while exhibiting a hunger for delivering solutions.
  • Exceptional. We are fanatical about delivering solutions and an amazing client experience.
  • Today Not Tomorrow. We strive to complete today what will make tomorrow better.

These aren't simply words on a wall. They influence how we hire, how we make decisions, how we respond when something goes wrong and how we build long-term client relationships.

In practice, the Mentis Way helps create something increasingly important in managed IT: continuity and accountability rather than a rotating cast of technicians.

What Is the Mentis Process?

The Mentis Process is a disciplined framework for continuously managing, improving and aligning a client's technology environment with the needs of the business.

Rather than waiting for technology to break and then reacting, the process creates a continuous cycle of understanding the business, identifying gaps, establishing priorities, implementing improvements, supporting users and optimizing the environment over time.

The framework follows six stages:

  1. Identify
We begin by understanding the business—not just the technology.

That includes how teams work, where technology creates friction, what the organization is trying to accomplish and where technology, cybersecurity or operational gaps may affect those objectives.
  2. Assess
We evaluate the technology environment to identify risks, vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, lifecycle concerns and recurring issues.

The objective is to understand the current state of the environment and identify where improvement is needed—not simply respond to the problems users happen to report.
  3. Plan
Mentis CIO leadership translates technical findings and business priorities into a strategic technology roadmap.

The roadmap typically looks ahead 12 to 36 months and considers infrastructure, lifecycle requirements, cybersecurity, cloud strategy, business applications, scalability and other technology priorities. See what is a vCIO.
  4. Implement
Technology improvements are executed through a structured process designed to reduce disruption and create consistency.

This can include infrastructure upgrades, cloud initiatives, cybersecurity improvements, lifecycle projects, application changes and other strategic technology initiatives.
  5. Support
Our Service Desk provides responsive, people-focused support when users need help.

But effective managed IT should do more than close tickets. Recurring problems and patterns can reveal opportunities to improve the underlying environment so fewer issues occur in the first place.
  6. Optimize
    Technology environments never stand still.

Mentis continuously evaluates alignment, risk, performance and changing business requirements so the technology strategy can evolve alongside the organization. See what is a technology alignment review.

Who Is Responsible for the Mentis Process?

The Mentis Process is delivered through specialized functions within our Service Delivery Engine rather than relying on a single technician or account manager to manage every aspect of a client's technology.

Those functions include:

  • Technology Alignment — evaluating the environment and identifying alignment gaps
  • Centralized Services — managing and maintaining core technology platforms
  • Service Desk — supporting users and resolving day-to-day technology issues
  • Professional Services — planning and executing projects and major technology changes
  • CIO Leadership — connecting technology priorities, risk and investment to business strategy

Each function has a defined role, creating accountability across both day-to-day IT operations and long-term technology strategy.

How Is the Mentis Process Different From Traditional IT Support?

Traditional IT support is often centered around a simple cycle: something breaks, someone reports it, and IT fixes it.

That remains an important part of IT support, but it isn't enough to effectively manage a modern business technology environment.

The Mentis Process adds the disciplines required to continually ask:

Is the environment aligned? Is it secure? What needs attention next? How does technology support where the business is going?

This shifts IT from primarily reactive support toward continuous technology management and improvement.

Cybersecurity, cloud services, lifecycle planning, user support and strategic technology planning become interconnected parts of the same operating framework rather than isolated services.

When Does the Mentis Process Begin?

The process begins during onboarding.

Mentis uses onboarding to develop an understanding of the client's business and technology environment, establish documentation and management systems, identify immediate concerns and create the foundation for ongoing technology management.

Learn more about what onboarding with Mentis Group looks like.

From there, the Identify → Assess → Plan → Implement → Support → Optimize cycle continues throughout the client relationship.

Why Does a Defined IT Process Matter?

Technology environments have become too interconnected—and too important to business operations—to manage effectively through tickets alone.

A defined operating process helps organizations move from reactive IT to intentional technology management, creating greater visibility into risk, clearer priorities and better alignment between technology investments and business objectives.

That philosophy is at the heart of how Mentis Group approaches both Fully Managed IT and Co-Managed IT relationships.
