What Does Onboarding With Mentis Group Look Like?

Mentis does the heavy lifting: documentation, baselining, audits and stabilization, within weeks.

Onboarding with Mentis Group is engineered so that we do nearly all of the work. Your team provides information and access; we handle documentation collection, security baselining, alignment audits, patch and policy enforcement, identity hardening, vendor coordination, asset discovery, backup validation and stabilization. The goal is to bring your environment to Mentis standards within weeks, not months, with minimal disruption.

What happens

  1. Kickoff and discovery. We learn how your business runs, who does what, which systems matter most and where the pain is. This is the Identify step of the Mentis Process.
  2. Documentation collection. Credentials, vendors, licenses, network details, application inventory. If your previous provider held these, we coordinate the handoff.
  3. Asset discovery and monitoring. Our tools are deployed to every device and system so we can see the environment and start monitoring immediately.
  4. Security baselining. Endpoint protection, MFA enforcement, email filtering and identity hardening are put in place early, because the transition period is when a business is most exposed.
  5. Alignment audit. Technology Alignment Engineers audit the environment against our standards and produce the initial findings.
  6. Patch and policy enforcement. Systems are brought current and configured to standard.
  7. Backup validation. Existing backups are verified and gaps closed; recovery objectives are confirmed.
  8. Vendor coordination. We become the point of contact for your internet, phone, software and hardware vendors.
  9. Stabilization. Recurring issues are traced to root cause and fixed, so ticket volume drops.
  10. First strategic review. Your vCIO presents the findings and the initial roadmap.

What you will notice

A few requests for information and access in the first weeks, some scheduled maintenance windows, and then fewer problems. Users see the Service Desk contact details and the remote support tool; most of the rest happens behind the scenes.

Switching from another provider

We manage the transition so there is no gap in coverage. See how to switch MSPs without downtime and, for the user side, the new-employee IT onboarding checklist we put in place.

Onboarding is included with Fully Managed IT and described on the Our Process page. Schedule a consultation to start.
